DUTCH FLOWERS PRICES
Before packing the flowers check whether or not the quality will meet your customer's requirements.
Maximum storage temperature between 2 and 5 degrees Celcius.
To maintain the quality storage and transport in water is to be preferred.
Transport in water has the great advantage that the flowers are easily kept cool.
In the case of transport in boxes it is essential to avoid movement in the boxes, and to protect against damage, especially in the case of buds.
This masy be done by wrapping the bunches in paper an or in corrugated cardboard.
In the coure of re-packing the roses have become warmer. You have to pre-cool the flowers. ( see also chapter Pre-Cooling. )

Information for the Retailer :
Maximum storage temperature between 2 and 5 degrees Celcius.
Keep in clean water ( replace daily ).
There are special products that will keep the water clean for a longer period, like e.g Chrysal Professional.
If the flowers can be kept cool, the foliage may be retained.
Be sure to use clean water ( replace daily ) or a preservative.
First cut the stems, Cut off the stems diagonally using a sharp, clean knife or other cutters.
Always sell from water.
If the flowers are kept or shown dry the keeping qualitities may be severly affected.
Always supply a flower nutrient with roses.

Information for the Consumer :
First allow the rose to absorb plenty of clean water.
Fill a clean vase, ( preferably a glass vase ) and add the nutrient ( note the dosage indicated ).
Remove the lower leaves, so that there is no foliafe under water.
With a sharp knife take an approximately 1 cm. Cut off the stems diagonally.

Thorns need not be removed.
If this is nevertheless desirable in the arrangement, make sure not to damage the stalk.
Never flatten or peel the stems of the roses.
Never place roses in a draught or in the blazing sun.
When necessary refill the vase with a solution of flower nutrient.
Limp roses; Again cut the stalks, wrap the roses in paper and allow them to absorb plenty of clean water.
Placing them in a cool spot before replacing them in a vase ( again adding a nutrient ).

Information during transport :
The flowers must be kept at a temperature of 2 - 5 degrees Celcius
Pre-Cooling the flowers
Pre-cooling consists of forcing cold air through the boxes. A damp cooling system is preferred to minimize dehydration.

Pre-cooling may also be useful for the importing wholesaler
If the boxes are to be forwarded.
Pre-coling boxes may be closely stacked in order to remain as cool as possible.
Pre-cooled boxes must also be transported in cool conditions.
