The biggest flower auction in the world is the V.B.A. in Aalsmeer in Holland.
The whole complex covers 135 hectares ( = 1.350.000 quare meter m2 )
Approx, 4 billion flowers and 400 million olants are sold annually, coming from 8.000 nurseries.
The annually turnover amount to more than 2 billion Dutch Guilders.
This auction has 13 clocks, divided over 5 auction rooms, each room has 300/400 buyers every day.

The auction starts every working day at 06:30 precisely and the last transaction of the clock is about 10:15.
The total transactions on all clocks every day are about 50.000. The total number of trolleys loaded with products, for all the clocks is about 12.000 each day.
Info Buyer needs
As you understand the buyer needs to get a lot of information about the products and he must know what quality his customers wants.
- Who is a good grower of this product?
- What are the total units on the clock today of this product?
- What can he (pay) bid?
- How many stems does he need of one kind of product?
- What is the quality today of this grower?
- How is the market behaving, does the price go up or is the price dropping?
The hand of the clock starts always on the top.
The hand of the clock runs anti clockwise, from left to right.
The price drops from high to low.
The first man, out of the 300 buyers, who pushes the button first is the buyer of the goods.

The auction startvery early in the morning.
So if you want to see the most lively part of it , we advise you to come as early as possible, i,e, between 06:30 and 09:30 o'clock.
The auction is open 5 days a week.
The adults have to pay entrance-fee, childeren up to 12 are free.
Parking space is available, see signs visitor to P.
A gallery has been placed in the auction building especially for the many visitors. From here you can watch the fascinating spectalce undisturbed. You can enjoy a hitherto unknmow display of floral magnificence and revel in the activity of this trading centre.
